England World Cup Squad – Who is: In, Maybe, Out

England World Cup Squad – Who goes and who misses out?

Now the ‘friendlies’ are over, we can step it up for the big games, kicking off in Qatar on November 21st against Iran.

Gareth can select 26 players this time, so here are our thoughts on the England World Cup squad.

Goalkeepers (3)

IN – Pickford, Pope and Ramsdale

OUT – Henderson

Defenders (10)

IN (9) – James, Trippier, Stones, Walker, Maguire, Dier, Chilwell, Shaw, Coady

MAYBE (1) – Alexander-Arnold, Tomori, White, Guehi

OUT – Mings

We have too many right backs (if fit) for Trent to make it in, despite him being one of our most talented players. Maguire will start against Iran due to lack of suitable replacements.

Midfielders (5)

IN (4) – Rice, Bellingham, Henderson, Mount

MAYBE (1) – Ward-Prowse, Phillips, Gallagher

Phillips will be there if he’s not injured.

Forwards (8)

IN (5) – Kane, Foden, Sterling, Saka, Grealish

MAYBE (3) – Rashford, Abraham, Maddison, Wilson

OUT – Sancho,  Toney, Watkins, Calvert-Lewin, Bowen

One space available for a Harry Kane backup, perhaps depending on form over the next month. Unlikely that outsiders such as Maddison and Toney will break into the squad.

Who gets in your squad? We’ll be there for every game in Qatar, cheering the Three Lions on to hopeful glory.
